The Fruit of Death

Inspired by the Book of Genesis.

The Fruit of Death revisits the primordial moment of Adam and Eve and the first act of disobedience that, according to the Christian tradition, introduced death into human history.

Rendered almost entirely in sepia tones, the painting evokes origin, memory, and a world still held in harmony. Within this restrained atmosphere, the red fruit appears as the only interruption of color, becoming the visual center of the work and a symbol of temptation, choice, and consequence.

The fruit represents humanity’s desire to determine good and evil apart from God, seeking autonomy where trust was intended. Through this act, communion is broken and the original harmony between humanity, creation, and God is fractured.

Rather than focusing on dramatic action, the painting invites contemplation of the spiritual reality behind the biblical narrative: the mystery of freedom, the consequences of sin, and the human longing to recover what was lost.
